Abstract

Body shape that occurs in teenagers is quite a concern for young women because body shape is the thing that is most feared because teenagers consider this to be something important for them. The aim of this research journal is to explain the condition of self-confidence of obese adolescent girls and determine the factors that cause obesity in adolescent girls. Qualitative research uses a case study approach. In this case study method, you can focus more intensively on one particular object and study it as a case by looking at the condition of self-confidence in young women. The results showed that the majority of obese young women in this study revealed that they had negative self-perceptions, especially related to their body image. Feelings of dissatisfaction with physical appearance are often the main source of low self-confidence. They often feel uncomfortable in social settings that emphasize certain beauty standards. that obese teenagers often experience low self-confidence which is influenced by various factors, such as experiences of bullying, social stigma, and negative perceptions of their body image. Factors that cause obesity in young women are hereditary factors and lifestyle environmental factors such as diet, what they eat and lack of sports activities. It is hoped that teenagers who are obese will develop their abilities by channeling their talents and hobbies such as sports and other achievements. Channeling this talent is done by participating in activities in the environment, exploring more of one's potential and recognizing one's self as a whole.
