This article explores the transformation of santri identity in the context of globalization using an anthropological approach. Santri, as a group that has an important role in preserving Islamic values in Indonesia, is now facing complex challenges due to the increasingly rapid flow of globalization. This research examines how the identity of santri, which is traditionally shaped by Islamic boarding school values and local culture, is changing amid the influence of modernity, technology and global culture. Through ethnographic methods, this research finds that globalization not only affects the material aspects of students' lives, but also reconstructs their religious meanings and practices. The identity of santri is now developing to become more dynamic and plural, where they are able to adapt to changing times without abandoning their traditional roots. These findings contribute to a deeper understanding of the role of santri in maintaining a balance between tradition and modernity, as well as the implications of this identity transformation for the future of Islamic education in Indonesia.
